O Sleeper, Awake!

O Sleeper, Awake! is an exciting and stirring setting of Father Richard Rohr’s writings for the Easter Triduum. With a fanfare-like introduction and a sweeping piano accompaniment, this composition is triumphant and celebratory. Featuring a brief a cappella section, the middle section gives way to a reflective and contemplative mood before returning to the opening fanfare motive. Commissioned by Scott Green and the Celebration Community Church Choir in Fort Worth, TX, this Easter anthem was written to honor the music ministries of Marcie Ellen Duplantis and her service to Celebration Community Church.

Written for SATB and piano, this composition is perfect for any high school, church, community, and collegiate choirs as a lively and inspiring concert closer that can also be used during the Easter celebration.

O Sleeper Awake

O sleeper, awake!
Rise from the dead, for I am the life of the dead.
Rise up, work of my hands, for you were created in my image.
Rise, let us leave this place, for you are in me and I am in you.
Together, we cannot be separated!
